The work of the Institute of Social Service reaches people through spaces that are deeply connected to their communities.
From an urban community centre in Mumbai to a rural initiative in Kolad and a supportive residential home for young women, each of our centres responds to the needs of the people around it.
While each centre has its own character and focus, they are united by a common purpose:

CHUIM COMMUNITY CENTRE
Located in Khar, Mumbai, Chuim Community Centre works alongside the local community to respond to social, educational, health and livelihood needs.
For decades, the Centre has provided a space where individuals and families can access support, develop skills and participate in initiatives designed to improve their quality of life. Its work includes community healthcare, women's empowerment, education and skill development, child and family welfare and other community-based initiatives.
At Chuim, service begins with understanding the community — its challenges, its strengths and its aspirations.

JEEVANDHARA, KOLAD
Our commitment to social service extends beyond the city. Located in Kolad, Raigad, Jeevandhara works with rural and Adivasi communities, responding to local needs through initiatives focused on education, health, nutrition, women, children and community development. The Centre provides opportunities for learning, awareness and community engagement while creating spaces for people to participate in their own development.
Through health and nutrition initiatives, educational activities, community programmes and field-based learning, Jeevandhara connects people, knowledge and opportunity.

NIRMALA NIKETAN HOSTEL
For a young woman pursuing her education in Mumbai, a safe and supportive place to live can make all the difference. The Nirmala Niketan Hostel provides residential accommodation for young women, particularly students pursuing their education at institutions such as the College of Social Work and College of Home Science. More than a place to stay, the Hostel seeks to provide an environment where young women can pursue their education while living with safety, dignity and a sense of community. The residential environment supports their academic journey while encouraging personal growth, independence and human values.
